1. Introduction

Nviron ("we", "our", "us", or "the app") is a location-based social discovery application that helps users find and connect with people nearby.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights over your data.

By creating an account or using Nviron, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app and do not use our services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you register and use Nviron, we collect:

  • Name — Displayed on your public profile
  • Phone number — Used only for OTP sign-in verification
  • Google Account Email Address — Used for authentication when signing in with Google Sign-In
  • City — Displayed on your public profile
  • Bio — Displayed on your profile
  • Profile photo — Displayed on your public profile
  • Interests — Used to enrich your profile (minimum 3 required)
  • Birth year — Collected during registration solely to verify you meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years. Not displayed on your public profile and not shared with other users.
  • Social media profile links — Optional — Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Twitter/X

2.2 Information We Collect Automatically

  • Device location — Collected only while the app is open and actively in use (foreground only). Used to show nearby users and calculate approximate distance.
  • Activity timestamp — Used to display recent activity information such as "2h ago" to connected users.
  • FCM (push notification) token — Used to deliver notifications to your device.
  • Chat messages and images — Text messages and images exchanged in private conversations between connected users. Images shared in chats are visible only to conversation participants.
  • Connection and interaction data — Likes, hearts, and anonymous compliments you send; connection requests sent and received.
  • Ghost Mode status — Indicates whether your profile is hidden from nearby feeds.
  • Block list — Users you choose to block.
  • Reports — Information submitted when users report profiles, chats, or compliments.
  • Suggestions/Feedback — If you submit feedback through the app, we store your message and user ID.
  • Crash diagnostics — Anonymous crash and stability information collected through Firebase Crashlytics to improve app reliability.
  • App usage data — Anonymous app usage and engagement data (such as app opens, session duration, and device information) collected through Firebase Analytics to help us understand how the app is used. No personally identifiable information is included in this data.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your location while the app is closed or running in the background.
  • We do not collect your contacts, call logs, SMS, or clipboard data.
  • We do not store passwords — authentication is done entirely via OTP or Google Sign-In.
  • We do not collect financial or payment information.
  • We do not access files or media that you do not explicitly select.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Display nearby user profiles based on your location.
  • Calculate and display approximate distance between users (e.g. "1.2 km away").
  • Enable private messaging between connected users.
  • Deliver notifications for app activity.
  • Support connection requests, likes, hearts, and compliments.
  • Enforce spam prevention and usage limits by allowing only 3 compliments per day.
  • Display social media profile links only for platforms you have individually enabled.
  • Support safety features such as blocking and reporting.
  • Process account deletion requests.
  • Improve app performance, stability, and security.
  • Understand general app usage patterns to improve the user experience.
  • Verify that users meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years during registration.

4. Permissions Explained

The following device permissions are requested by Nviron and used as described below:

  • INTERNET — Required to connect to Firebase for all app functionality.
  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Checks whether the device has an active internet connection before making network requests.
  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION — Required to obtain your precise location so nearby users can be shown accurately and distances calculated.
  • ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — Used as a fallback if precise location is unavailable.
  • CAMERA — Allows you to take photos for your profile picture or to send images in chat.
  • READ_MEDIA_IMAGES (Android 13+) — Allows users to select images from their device gallery.
  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below) — Used for gallery image selection on older Android versions.
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) — Required to display push notifications for likes, messages, requests, and related activity.

Location, camera, and media permissions are requested only when needed and may be denied at any time through device settings.

5. Location Data — Detailed

  • Location is collected only while the app is open and actively in use.
  • Nviron does not access or collect location data while the app is closed or running in the background.
  • Location data is used solely to display nearby users and calculate approximate distances.
  • Other users never see your exact GPS coordinates — only a human-readable approximate distance (e.g. "500 m away") is displayed to them.
  • You may disable location permission at any time from device settings.
  • If location permission is disabled, nearby discovery features may not function correctly.
  • Ghost Mode allows you to browse the app while hiding your profile from nearby feeds.

6. Push Notifications

If you grant notification permission, Nviron sends push notifications for the following events:

  • Someone likes your profile
  • Someone sends you a heart
  • You receive an anonymous compliment
  • You receive a connection request
  • A connection request you sent is accepted
  • You receive a new private message from a connected user

Notifications are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).

You can disable all notifications at any time from your device's system Settings → Notifications.

7. Firebase and Google Services

Nviron uses Firebase and Google services to operate core app functionality.

Services used include:

  • Firebase Authentication — OTP login and Google Sign-In.
  • Cloud Firestore — Stores user profiles, chat messages, notifications, connection data, and other app content.
  • Firebase Storage — Stores profile photos and images sent in chat.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — Delivers push notifications to your device.
  • Firebase Functions — Backend app functionality and automation.
  • Firebase Crashlytics — Crash reporting and app stability monitoring. Anonymous crash data is transmitted to Google's servers for analysis. This data does not include personally identifiable information.
  • Firebase Analytics — Collects anonymous app usage and engagement data such as app opens, session duration, and device information to help us understand how the app is used. This data is transmitted to Google. No personally identifiable information is included.
  • Google Play Services Location APIs — To obtain your device location for the nearby discovery feature.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Firebase / Google services — For infrastructure, authentication, cloud storage, notifications, crash monitoring, analytics, and location services. Anonymous crash diagnostics collected by Firebase Crashlytics and anonymous usage data collected by Firebase Analytics are transmitted to Google as part of these services. Neither contains personally identifiable information.
  • Other users of Nviron — Your public profile information (name, city, bio, photo, interests, enabled social links) is visible to other users of the app as part of the core features.
  • Legal obligations — If required by applicable law, court order, or government authority, we may disclose information as legally required.

9. Social Media Links — Social Vault

Adding social media links is entirely optional:

  • Each platform can be individually toggled on or off from Settings → Social Profile Links at any time.
  • We do not have access to any of your social media platforms. We only link your social media profile URLs to Social Vault.

10. Anonymous Compliments

When you send an anonymous compliment to another user:

  • Your identity is never revealed to the recipient under any circumstances.
  • The recipient sees only the message text — not your name, photo, or any identifying information.
  • A limit of 3 compliments per day applies per sender.
  • You may send at most 1 compliment per day to the same person.
  • All compliment messages are automatically filtered for inappropriate language before delivery.
  • Users can report compliments directly within the app.

11. Blocking and Reporting

Users can block or report other users directly within the app:

Blocking a user:

  • Removes profiles from each other's feeds
  • Prevents messaging and future interaction
  • Prevents profile visibility between blocked users
  • Connected users disappear from network
  • You can unblock users at any time from Settings → Blocked Users
  • You can unblock users at any time from Profile→ Blocked Users

Reporting tools are available for:

  • User profiles
  • Chat messages
  • Anonymous compliments

Reports may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent account removal depending on severity and repeated violations.

We take reasonable measures to help prevent abuse, spam, harassment, impersonation, and inappropriate content on the platform.

12. Data Retention

  • Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active.
  • Chat messages are stored in our database and accessible to both participants of a conversation.
  • You can delete individual messages, an entire conversation, or all messages within a conversation at any time from within the app.
  • Upon account deletion, all personally identifiable data associated with your account is permanently removed within 48 hours.
  • Anonymised, non-identifiable crash diagnostics collected through Firebase Crashlytics may be retained beyond account deletion solely for app stability purposes and cannot be linked back to you.
  • Anonymised, non-identifiable usage data collected through Firebase Analytics may be retained beyond account deletion solely for app improvement purposes and cannot be linked back to you.
  • Reports you submitted or that were filed against you may be retained for up to 90 days after account deletion for safety and platform integrity purposes. See the Account Deletion Policy for full details.

13. Data Security

  • All app communication is encrypted using HTTPS.
  • Firebase Security Rules are used to help protect stored data.
  • Authentication is handled securely through Firebase services.
  • Android backup and cloud transfer are disabled where applicable to reduce unintended data exposure.

While we take reasonable steps to protect data, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure.

14. Children's Privacy

Nviron is strictly intended for users who are 18 years of age or older.

We actively enforce this through an age verification step during registration. Users are required to select their birth year before completing account setup. Any user whose birth year indicates they are under 18 is blocked from completing registration.

We do not knowingly allow users under 18 to use the app. If we discover that a minor has created an account, the account and associated data will be removed.

Nviron strictly prohibits any content or behaviour that sexually exploits, endangers, or abuses children (CSAE/CSAM). Any confirmed child sexual abuse material will be reported to the relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law.

15. Your Rights

As a user of Nviron, you have the right to:

  • View your personal data at any time by opening your profile in the app.
  • Edit your profile information (name, city, bio, photo, interests, social links) at any time from Settings.
  • Block users and manage interactions.
  • Enable or disable Ghost Mode.
  • Revoke permissions through device settings.
  • Disable notifications through device settings.
  • Request deletion of your account within the app.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing kalpanaofficial30@gmail.com or via our external deletion request method described in the Account Deletion Policy.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or applicable law.

When significant changes are made, you will be notified within the app.

The "Last Updated" date at the top of this document will always reflect the most recent version.

Continued use of Nviron after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
